Cattails and Reconciliation

It says on the Canadian Flower Delivery website that:

When you hand someone a cattail, it symbolizes peace and it will give the recipient well wishes of prosperity. If you have someone that you are fighting with or someone that you want to show that you truly appreciate, give them a cattail and let it smooth everything over for you just a little bit.

I think this would be an apt symbol for those of us living close to wetlands to adopt as our symbolic reminder to keep true reconciliation on our minds as we Greet the Land as we open each gathering.

Fitting too because cattails require certain conditions in which to grow. Fitting too because cattails filter and purify the lands on which they grow. Good reminders to us as forgetful people who need to re-member that we depend on this vital resource and all the other resources under and on it.
